What is the PPEA's code of conduct?

PPEA Code of Conduct Pinellas Parent Educators Association (PPEA) is committed to providing a safe, secure, welcoming, and respectful environment for all participants at PPEA-sponsored events. All students, parents, guests, committee members, and volunteers are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on our homeschool community and contributes to a positive experience for everyone. All attendees are expected to treat fellow students, parents, committee members, volunteers, venue staff, and guests with courtesy and respect at all times. Committee members and volunteers must be afforded the respect necessary to effectively perform their responsibilities and ensure the safety and success of each event. The following behaviors are strictly prohibited at all PPEA events: Possession or use of alcohol, tobacco products, vaping devices, illegal drugs, or controlled substances Possession of weapons of any kind, including knives Fighting, physical aggression, or threatening behavior Bullying, harassment, intimidation, or discriminatory conduct Use of offensive, abusive, or profane language Disruptive, rowdy, or inappropriate behavior Disrespect toward students, parents, committee members, volunteers, venue staff, or other attendees Failure to comply with instructions given by PPEA committee members, volunteers, or event staff PPEA reserves the right to immediately remove any individual whose behavior is deemed unsafe, disruptive, inappropriate, or inconsistent with the standards outlined above. Individuals asked to leave an event will not be entitled to a refund. Repeated violations of this Code of Conduct may result in suspension or permanent removal from participation in PPEA events and/or membership in PPEA without refund. Attendance at any PPEA-sponsored event constitutes agreement to abide by this Code of Conduct.

Do I need to be a Christian to become a member of PPEA or attend events?

No. While PPEA is a Christ-centered organization founded on Christian principles, membership and participation are open to homeschool families of all faiths, backgrounds, and family sizes. PPEA leadership and Board members serve from a Christian worldview, and our events, programs, and organizational standards reflect those values. We ask all families and students attending PPEA-sponsored and hosted events to respect and adhere to the standards and expectations established by the organization. We are proud of the diversity within our homeschool community and believe that families from a variety of backgrounds enrich the experiences and connections we share. PPEA strives to build a strong, vibrant homeschool community by fostering opportunities for connection, collaboration, encouragement, and mutual support among homeschooling families. How much does it cost to join PPEA? What is included in the membership?

The cost to join PPEA is $55 per year per family. Memberships are valid for 12 months and provides you and your children access to a private and secure website complete with a family directory, a calendar of private PPEA hosted events and field trips, private Facebook page for all members; private Facebook page for current seniors, member directory forum and message board/discussioon forum, discounted pricing on events that are open to the public, discounted membership at FPEA.

Are member events mandatory?

Participation in activities isn’t required, but we encourage you to join as many as possible. Like traditional schools, our events are designed to build connections and create meaningful, fun experiences together. Over time, your students will graduate alongside familiar faces—not strangers. We are intentionally building a strong, supportive community where both parents and students can form lasting friendships. Taking time to get to know one another is an important part of that. We understand that schedules are busy, and we appreciate any effort you make to be involved.

How many member activities will there be?

Member events are scheduled monthly from August through May. Beach and park days are scheduled throughout the summer months, June - July. PPEA may add extra events throughout the year with as much notice as possible. Be sure to check our events page for what we have available.

Is there an extra charge for planned events and activities?

There are no additional costs for required events or activities, including beach days, park meetups, and some game nights. PPEA also organizes optional gatherings for students that may involve a fee; however, we work hard to keep costs as low as possible by securing group rates and special discounts. Any fees will always be clearly shared when the event is announced.

Do you need volunteers? How can I be involved throughout the year?

Yes! Our nonprofit, fully volunteer-run homeschool program is growing – and so is the need for compassionate, committed volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of local homeschool families. Whether you're a parent, retired educator, college student, or simply someone who loves helping others, there's a place for you here. I have an idea for an event/field trip. Can I plan an event for the group or can PPEA admins create the event?

Absolutely—we love when members bring ideas and get involved! You’re welcome to help plan and organize an event or field trip, and PPEA admins are also happy to assist with creating and promoting it. Our goal is to offer a variety of activities that reflect what our community is excited about, so your input is incredibly valuable. Planning events does take time and teamwork, and we encourage everyone to participate in whatever way they can. Our community grows stronger and more meaningful through shared involvement, and we truly appreciate your willingness to contribute!
